Steel lets the frames be exceptionally slender, so you get more glass, more light and a crisp, architectural look that's hard to match in any other material. ### Who it suits RK Steel suits homeowners who want an internal door or screen to be a real feature: between a kitchen and living room, across a hallway or at the bottom of the stairs. It works in period homes and modern renovations alike. ### Fire rated where you need it RK Steel doors are not fire rated as standard, but we can supply them with an FD30 fire-rated upgrade. That means you can have slim steel and glass in places that need a fire door, such as hallways, stairwells and loft conversions. ### Why professional fitting matters Steel doors are heavy and precise. They must be fixed square and true so they swing cleanly and close properly. Our team has the experience to fit them right first time. Examples of our work ## RK Steel Internal Doors in homes Previous slideNext slide1 / 5 The range ## Fire-rated internal doors One of the biggest benefits of RK Steel. RK doors are not fire rated as standard, but we can supply them with an FD30 fire-rated upgrade, so you can have the look of slim steel and glass where a fire door is required. - ### FD30 integrity RK's fire doors are designed to hold their integrity for 30 minutes, helping slow the spread of fire and protect escape routes. - ### Slim or classic frames Fire-rated doors are available in an ultra-slim frame or a classic, slightly wider profile. - ### Same colours and handles Fire-rated doors come in the same colours, finishes and handle options as the rest of the range. - ### Where it helps Hallways, stairwells, kitchens off escape routes and loft conversions, where building regulations often call for a fire door. Colours ## Choose your colour RK Steel offers a unique range of colours. Open the RK Steel designer → The cost of waiting ## What happens if you leave it Solid internal doors and walls can make a home feel darker and smaller than it needs to. ### Dark hallways and rooms Solid doors block the light from reaching the middle of the house. ### Open plan with no peace Fully open layouts carry noise and cooking smells everywhere. ### Fire door rules Some rooms need a fire door, which usually means a plain, heavy door. A fire-rated RK door gives you the light instead. ### Common mistakes we see - Choosing a grid pattern that doesn't line up with the room. - Forgetting to check whether a fire door is required before ordering. - Using a fitter without experience of heavy steel doors. Our process ## Five clear steps, start to finish - 01 ### Free written quote Send us your plans or drawings and we give you a written quote setting out the product, the brand, the finish and the fitting. No pressure to decide on the spot. - 02 ### Free survey once you go ahead When you accept your quote, we visit to take exact measurements and confirm every detail, at no cost. - 03 ### Order with a 65% deposit A 65% deposit places the order with the manufacturer. Everything is made to the measurements taken at survey. - 04 ### Installation by our team Our fitters prepare the opening, install your RK Steel internal doors, seal it and check it opens, closes and locks smoothly. - 05 ### Completion and handover We tidy up, show you how everything works and confirm the manufacturer's guarantee. The balance is due on the day of completion. In detail ## Options, materials and methods Everything worth knowing before your survey, so you can make a confident decision. ### Internal steel doors and screens Internal steel doors and screens split up open-plan spaces while letting light through. They're popular between kitchens and living rooms and at the foot of stairs. ### Glazing patterns The grid of glazing bars is part of the design. We'll talk through patterns that suit your room and view. ### Steel or aluminium Steel gives the slimmest classic profile; aluminium is lighter and often suits larger openings. We supply both and we'll help you decide. ### Planning internal steel screens An internal screen can be a single door, a pair of doors, a door with fixed side panels, or a full-height wall of glass with a door set into it. The grid pattern of the glazing bars should line up with features in the room, such as worktop height, ceiling line or a kitchen island. At survey we'll look at these sight lines with you so the finished screen looks deliberate rather than dropped in. ### Before your survey To get the most from your survey, have a think about a few things beforehand: how you use the room day to day, the look you're aiming for, any colours or finishes you already like, and whether other building or decorating work is planned. Photos of styles you like are useful too. None of this is essential, as we'll guide you through every choice, but it helps us give you a precise rk steel internal doors quote in a single visit. ### Paying for your project We keep payment simple and transparent. A 65% deposit is taken to order your products from the manufacturer, and the balance is due on the day of completion, once the job is finished. We don't publish prices, because every home is different. Get in touch for a quote. Your written quote will show exactly what you're paying for. ### Choosing a brand We supply and fit products from manufacturers rather than making our own, which means we can recommend what genuinely suits your home. Origin aluminium is our best seller and carries a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. RK Steel is our steel brand for internal doors, with a fire-rated option. For front doors we supply Bel'M and Palladio. At survey we'll explain the differences in plain terms. ### Understanding the guarantee Because we don't manufacture, the guarantee on your product is the manufacturer's guarantee, and it varies by brand. Origin products carry a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. For other brands, we'll confirm the guarantee for your specific product in writing with your quote, so there are no surprises later. ### Getting an accurate quote Every opening is different, so we don't publish prices. The fastest route to a firm figure is a free quote from your plans, followed by a free survey once you go ahead: we measure, check the condition of the opening and talk through the finish, glazing and hardware you want. You'll get a written quote listing exactly what's included before you decide anything. ### Homes we work on Our customers are mainly households: replacements in existing homes, renovations, extensions and self-builds. P Black and Son supplies products from manufacturers and fits them, so you deal with one team from first visit to final handover.
