Surveys, fitting and aftercare are handled by the same local team, so you're not waiting on someone travelling across the country. 02 ### When we can visit Call us and we'll tell you honestly when we can get to Portrush for your survey once you accept your quote, and give you a realistic fitting date once your products are ordered. 03 ### Portrush homes Portrush has Victorian and Edwardian terraces close to the harbour and the seafront, guest houses and holiday homes, modern apartments with balconies, and family homes and bungalows on the edges of town. Many properties have views over the West Strand, the East Strand or towards the Skerries, and making the most of those views is often the reason customers get in touch. 04 ### Holiday homes and lets Plenty of Portrush properties are second homes or holiday lets. Owners often want low-maintenance frames that won't need painting between seasons. Powder-coated aluminium suits that well. ### What Portrush homeowners ask us for Big glass for sea viewsSliding doors and large aluminium windows are popular in Portrush because fewer frame lines mean a clearer view of the sea. Replacing weather-beaten framesTimber frames on seafront properties take a battering and can rot. Aluminium doesn't rot or swell. Balcony and terrace doorsFrench doors and sliders onto balconies and terraces are a common request in apartments and seafront homes. Why choose us ## Why Portrush homeowners choose P Black and Son We supply and fit products from manufacturers rather than making our own, so our advice is about what suits your home in Portrush, not what we need to sell. Origin aluminium is our best seller; RK Steel is our main steel brand, and we also supply Palladio and Bel'M. ### Local to the north coast We're based in Coleraine, a short drive from Portrush. ### Low-maintenance products Aluminium frames that suit coastal weather and holiday homes. ### 20 years on Origin Origin products come with a 20-year manufacturer's guarantee. Local challenges ## What Portrush homes are up against ### Exposure to Atlantic weather Portrush sits on a headland facing the Atlantic, so frames take strong wind and driving rain. Installation and sealing need to be done properly to keep weather out. ### Salt air Salt in the sea air is hard on older frames and hardware. Low-maintenance, powder-coated aluminium is a sensible choice for coastal homes. ### Older seafront buildings Many seafront terraces are well over a century old, with openings that may not be perfectly square. We check this at survey and plan around it. ### Busy seasons and access Portrush gets very busy in summer and during big events. We'll plan fitting dates and access with you so the work goes smoothly. Local guide ## Planning your project in Portrush ### Planning glazing for a Portrush seafront home On the seafront and around the harbour, the views are the point. Before your survey, think about which rooms you spend most time in and where you sit. A sliding door in the main living room often gives more everyday benefit than bi-folds in a room you rarely use. We'll walk through the house with you and suggest where larger glass makes the biggest difference. ### Holiday lets and second homes If your Portrush property is a holiday let, you'll want work finished before the busy months and frames that need almost no upkeep between guests. Powder-coated aluminium only needs an occasional wipe-down, and hardware can be chosen to be simple and robust for guests who don't know the property. Tell us your booking calendar at survey and we'll plan dates around it where we can. ### Working around busy periods Portrush gets very busy in summer and during major events, with heavy traffic and limited parking. For properties close to the centre, the strands or the harbour, we'll agree delivery times and parking arrangements with you so the job runs smoothly and causes as little disruption as possible to you and your neighbours. ### Beyond the town We also work in the countryside around Portrush, out towards Dunluce and Bushmills and inland towards Coleraine, where many homes sit on exposed ground with views back to the sea. These properties benefit from the same weather-tough aluminium and careful sealing as homes on the seafront. ### What to expect on fitting day in Portrush On fitting day our team arrives with your made-to-measure products, protects floors and furniture, and removes the old frames. Each new window or door is fixed, packed and sealed, then tested to make sure it opens, closes and locks properly. On seafront homes we pay particular attention to the seals on the weather side of the building, because that is where Portrush's wind-driven rain will test them first. Before we leave, we tidy up and walk you through how everything works.
