Most of our work is within a short drive: the seaside towns, the villages in between and the farmland that runs back from the cliffs. 02 ### Villages we cover As well as the towns with their own pages, we regularly work in Portballintrae, Bushmills, Dervock, Aghadowey, Articlave, Downhill and the countryside along the Causeway Coastal Route. 03 ### North Coast homes The mix here is wide: Victorian terraces facing the sea, 1970s bungalows on the edge of villages, holiday apartments, converted farm buildings and a steady stream of architect-designed self-builds making the most of the views. 04 ### Booking a survey Send us your plans or drawings for a free quote first. Once you accept your quote, we'll arrange a survey, then agree a fitting date once your made-to-order products are ready. ### What the North Coast homeowners ask us for Glazing for the viewBig sliders, bi-folds and glazed gables that open a living space towards the sea or the hills. Replacing tired coastal framesOlder frames near the shore suffer from salt and wind. Many customers come to us when theirs start to stick, rattle or let in draughts. Character conversionsBarn and outbuilding conversions often suit RK Steel or slim aluminium for a traditional look. Why choose us ## Why the North Coast homeowners choose P Black and Son We supply and fit products from manufacturers rather than making our own, so our advice is about what suits your home in the North Coast, not what we need to sell. Origin aluminium is our best seller; RK Steel is our main steel brand, and we also supply Palladio and Bel'M. ### Truly local Our base is in the middle of the North Coast, so we're never far away. ### Aluminium and steel We supply and fit both, so the advice suits your building. ### 15 years on the coast Fifteen years of fitting windows and doors in north coast weather. Local challenges ## What the North Coast homes are up against ### Salt air Homes close to the shore get salt spray. Good-quality aluminium and careful sealing keep frames working. ### Wind-driven rain Exposed sites along the cliffs take rain sideways. Correct fixing and weatherproofing matter more here than inland. ### Holiday homes Second homes and lets need work planned around bookings and owners who aren't always on site. ### Rural access Farm lanes and clifftop sites need planning for delivering large glass panels. We check access at survey. Local guide ## Planning your project in the North Coast ### Planning glazing for a sea view On the North Coast the view is often the reason people bought the house. Before your survey, stand where you sit most and think about what you want to see. We'll then suggest frame layouts that keep mullions and transoms out of the line of sight. ### Winter fitting on the coast We fit all year, but on exposed clifftop and seafront sites we keep an eye on the forecast and plan big glass installations for calmer days. We'll talk dates through with you honestly. ### Mixing old and new Many North Coast homes have an older front and a modern extension at the back. Because we fit both RK Steel and aluminium, we can match colours and sightlines so the two parts of the house feel connected. ### Visiting our showroom If you're on the North Coast, our showroom near Coleraine is close by.
