Some properties enjoy views towards Downhill and Mussenden Temple, across the mouth of the Bann or out to sea. 04 ### A quieter coast Castlerock is quieter than Portrush or Portstewart, and many customers here are permanent residents who want their homes warmer, brighter and easier to maintain. ### What Castlerock homeowners ask us for Replacing exposed windowsWindows facing the sea take the worst of the weather. Aluminium replacements with proper sealing make a real difference to comfort. Garden doors with a viewSliding doors and bi-folds that open towards the sea or the countryside are a common request. Glazed gables on rural buildsSelf-builds in the countryside around Castlerock sometimes include glazed gables to take in the landscape. Local challenges ## What Castlerock homes are up against ### Open Atlantic exposure Castlerock faces the open sea with little shelter, so frames see strong winds and driving rain through the winter. ### Salt and sand Sea air and blown sand wear older hardware. Low-maintenance aluminium and correct installation help frames last. ### Rural and village access Narrow lanes and rural properties need planning for delivering large glazed units. We sort this out at survey. ### Older cottages and terraces Older properties may need openings checking before new frames go in. We assess this on the survey visit. Local guide ## Planning your project in Castlerock ### Planning glazing in a small seaside village Castlerock is small and quiet, and many homes are lived in all year round. Customers here usually want two things: warmer, draught-free rooms through the winter and more light and view in the main living areas. At survey we'll suggest where replacement windows will make the biggest difference to comfort and where larger glass will make the most of the outlook. ### Homes with a view of Downhill Some properties look along the coast towards Downhill and Mussenden Temple, or across the mouth of the Bann. If you have a view like that, frame thickness matters. Slim aluminium sliders and large fixed windows keep sightlines clear, and we can match them to opening windows elsewhere so the house looks consistent. ### Countryside around Castlerock Beyond the village there are farms, cottages and new homes on rising ground towards Articlave and the hills behind the coast. These sites can be very exposed, and many are reached by narrow lanes. We plan delivery of large glazed units at the survey stage so that fitting day goes smoothly. ### Holiday homes Castlerock has its share of holiday homes. If yours is only used part of the year, low-maintenance aluminium frames that don't need painting are a practical choice, and we'll try to schedule the work around your visits. ### What to expect on fitting day in Castlerock We protect floors and furniture, take out the old frames, and fit, pack and seal each new window or door. Because Castlerock homes face the open Atlantic, we pay close attention to sealing on the seaward side. Every opening part is tested, the site is tidied, and we show you how everything works before we go. ### Planning ahead for winter Castlerock's winters are long and wet, so many customers want work done before the weather turns. Getting your survey booked early in the year gives time for made-to-order products to arrive and be fitted before the worst of the autumn and winter storms.
